Martians are all almost identical in appearance. Most of their attacks are laser based, making them significantly dangerous against conventional equipment. Due to the Professor's views on humanity, the Martians clash with almost every faction, though they tend to battle the Rebel Army the most.ĭespite the physical weakness of the Martians, the Professor has worked hard to help the Martian cause, creating new equipment and lifeforms. It is revealed that Rootmars traveled back to Mars to recover, and left behind a small Martian base, which is currently run by the Neo-Martian Marty and the Professor. In the game's 1.19.0 patch, Rootmars was betrayed by some of his people and requested help from the Regular Army to fight against the rebelling Martians, who had sided themselves with the Invaders. This could be showing that they allied themselves with the Rebel Army, along with the Future Rebels. The Martians also make a return as fightable enemies in Metal Slug XX. In the game's credits, they are seen saving Morden after he is apprehended by the Regular Army. A triple alliance is formed with the Rebel Army and the Regular army in order to destroy the Invaders' nest and put an end to the new threat. The Rebel Army allied with the Martians again after events of MS3, however, another alien race named the Invaders attacks the Martians and the humans worldwide in the midst of the battle. Therefore, the rebels allied momentarily with the Regular Army once the ruse is exposed by protagonists. The Martians captured Morden again early on, replacing him with a doppelganger who is revealed at the rocket site. Their role in this game is the same as in Metal Slug 2 except this time around the protagonists come in contact with the Martians as early as the fourth mission.
The Rebel Army and the Regular Army allied briefly against the alien menace to rescue the general. Revealing their involvement and true intentions at the end of the Final Mission, the Martians betrayed the Rebel Army and abducted Morden. The Rebel Army was supported by the Martians but unbeknownst to them, the Martians were only planning to weaken the Earth's military. Their technology heavily relies on energy manipulation and genetic/biological engineering together with necromancy.
They however severely despise and eradicate inferior races that deplete their home planets resources and wellbeing. Conversion of games from AW to Naomi is already quite a challenge, but that it's now clear to me, problem are all those anti-copying/anti-porting measures.Martians are psychic based alien lifeforms with a clear hierarchical structure and a generally benevolent nature. To put in short, Sammy, Sega and SNK probably faced a problem of piracy and started putting anti-copy measures quite sofisticated. If we read back the same, then we have extra memory that shouldn't be there and it will crash. You follow me right? In a Naomi will make the whole DMA, PIO pointers go crazy but will be ignored by AW.Īnother one is to try to write to the extra ram that the Naomi has.
If we read the same, then we are good, if it doesn't read the same because Naomi has a ROM there, then it will crash or go to endless loop.Īnother trick is to try to send weird commands to the GDROM, which AW doesn't have. Then it will read back from that part of memory. In memory region 0x10000-20000, Atomiswave has a flash rom and Naomi a ROM, so the AW game will try to erase part of that flash rom, everytime we boot (which btw decreases the life of our flash) and write some values there.
METAL SLUG 6 MAME YOUTUBE CODE
The problem I'm facing now and that's the reason for lower pace in releases is that I found out that the new games have LOTS of protections inserted in the code in order to avoid games from AW being ported to DC or Naomi. The conversion process was "quite simple". I have also found that the first Atommiswave games had almost or no protection. I will start finding out why and release it ASAP. I have successfully converted METAL SLUG 6 which works great on MAME but shows black screen on Real Naomi.
